Resources

When I learn something useful, I like to write it up so colleagues, and anyone else who might find it helpful, can use it too. These are the courses, training materials, and code I have shared so far.

Survey Solutions for SurveyCTO Power Users

For SurveyCTO programmers, data managers, and field teams moving to Survey Solutions

An interactive, self-paced course that translates familiar SurveyCTO concepts into Survey Solutions workflows. Work through rosters and repeats, assignments and case management, expressions, preloading, APIs, paradata, exports, and field operations at your own pace.

Recently, I was assigned to a World Bank-funded project that requires Survey Solutions for data collection. At my organization, we are SurveyCTO power users, and most of my own survey programming experience is there too. I am also familiar with Survey Solutions and currently have the most experience using it on our team. While taking on the project, I thought: why not make the learning curve easier for everyone else?

I ended up building this specialized course, starting with concepts SurveyCTO users already know. It became a much bigger resource than I initially planned 😅, but I am happy with where it ended up. I am sharing it publicly in case it helps anyone moving between the platforms or trying to understand Survey Solutions a little better. Feedback, corrections, and suggestions are always welcome.
